The Meulemans Family Loves Slade!
Monsignor Slade Catholic School has become a second home for our three children. Our oldest is in middle school now, but each of them started at Slade in preschool and have loved it and felt safe, nurtured, and engaged from the start.
Our children are excited every day to go to school and learn at Slade. The teachers offer a variety of engaging activities to support the lessons. This multimodal approach to instruction allows for reinforcement of concepts and increased enthusiasm for the lessons among the students.
The teachers truly care about their students; often even showing up to cheer them on at weekend sporting events. This “above and beyond” support of their students speaks volumes to us as parents about the character of the individuals leading their daily learning.
The variety of after school activities and clubs offered at Slade foster children’s interests and skills. Every student can find an activity to broaden their learning and a group of peers he or she can connect with through the various offerings. Our children have participated in Dice Club, Book Club, Cherub Choir, Band, Robotics, Soccer, Basketball, Art Club, and LEGO Club, just to name a few of the choices.
The many community service projects throughout the year promote in the children a sense of responsibility to those in need, and expose them to the reality of lives beyond their own.
There are many opportunities for parents and family members to feel integrated into the school community. Family members are invited to attend the Daily Morning Prayer Service, there are regular opportunities for volunteering at school events, fundraisers, and in the classroom, and there are numerous social events organized either by the school or its Home and School Association (HASA). This sense of community allows for better connection with the teachers which then fosters a collaborative effort between parents and teachers.
We have also particularly appreciated that our ideas and input are valued and we have been seen as partners with the faculty and staff in our children’s educational experience along the way.
Monsignor Slade Catholic School is more than an educational institution - it is a community of people who are actively invested in the well being of its children. We are grateful that our children can learn and grow in such a supportive community and feel very fortunate to be a part of it!
