This is SLADE.

While time has flown, it is not hard to think back to the first day in 2016 when our oldest was dropped off at Monsignor Slade for kindergarten. The positive feelings we had from the start have only grown over the years as all four of our children currently attend Slade. The care of the teachers and administrators during each year has been exemplary. The daily smiles on our children’s faces are a testament to that fact, and each grade has been a fantastic experience for all of them.

It was important for us to provide a nurturing environment for our children that focused, first and foremost, on instilling the teachings of Christ as an extension to what our children experience at home and every week at Mass. Monsignor Slade helps deepen the faith of our children, which we feel is the most important, truly invaluable benefit. An example of this is when our son, Colin, was in first grade — whenever he would hear a siren in the distance (fire, police, ambulance, etc.), he would pause and say a prayer to himself.  When asked about it, he simply said, “That is what Ms. Fertetta [his teacher] taught us: Those people need our prayers.”

In addition to spiritual enrichment, the children form lasting friendships and love to challenge themselves in the classroom as well as extracurricular activities. In our case, this is particularly true with music, but also book club, dice club, talent show, and theater tech crew. Participation in these activities is a joy for our kids, and each is made all the better by the enthusiasm and effort of the teachers who oversee them.

As our oldest is now getting ready to graduate from Slade, we can say with certainty that sending our children to Slade was the best choice and a worthwhile investment. It has provided a welcoming environment for our children to grow, a family-like community, wonderful friendships, and countless memories. We look forward to that trend continuing until our youngest graduates in 2032.
